Discussion

SMF data collection is the system activity journaling facility of the z/OS system. Unauthorized access could result in the compromise of logging and recording of the operating system environment, ESM, and customer data. Unauthorized disclosure of audit records can reveal system and configuration data to attackers, thus compromising its confidentiality. Audit information includes all information (e.g., audit records, audit settings, audit reports) needed to successfully audit operating system activity.
